It was actually on July 2, but I didn't have time to post then. It was a pretty awesome day! My mum made me a yummy cake with pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles, most of which was devoured by my brother later. A few of my friends came over and we ate cake and ran around playing with sparklers. Yay sparklers! X3 I got pretty much everything I wanted and more- an iPod (see previous post), wads of cash, and plenty of clothes and jewelry. (Which helped with my soon-to-be scene wardrobe!) Below you can see some of the stuff I got, and a pic of a sparkler my friend was holding. :) The cool plastic jewelry is from girlprops.com, and the shirts are from hot topic and forever21. (The power rangers shirt is AWESOME!)
I had to leave for a family reunion the day after my birthday, which I'll post a bit about on sometime later. I updated my profile a little bit so check that out... the doodle I'm using as my profile picture is pretty much awesome, kekeke.
My first sewing lesson is tomorrow! I hope it goes well and I'm not an outcast because of the age difference. I'm supposedly going to be in a class with a bunch of elementary schoolers. Waugh! XD I hope I survive. Wish me luck!
We walked over to Ben & Jerry's after that, and I got cake batter flavored ice cream, my second choice to superman, which they don't sell. ;-] I didn't open my dunny's box until we sat down at a table, and I got the "White Tizieu Afro" one. It wasn't my favorite of the ones shown on the box, but there were less attractive ones and I still thought it was cute. It came with more accessories than most of the others. ^w^
On another subject, a lot of you know of my obsession with fashion subcultures. (The reason I buy books like Fruits.) Well, my latest fashion obsession is "Scene" style. It was a subculture that really originated with a group of people interested in a certain genre of music, but lately it has just begun to stray into a fashion style. Typical characteristics of the style is fluffy choppy hair with sidebangs, either black or bleached, sometimes with streaks of bright colors, dark eye makup, and band tees. Most of them sport Sidekick phones. (Do I sound like I'm describing some sort of species of animals? ^_^; I'm kind of a nerd sometimes.) Many of them seem to have social lives that thrive on myspace, stickam, and buzznet. There's this stereotype that scene kids are obsessed with dinosaurs... I'm not really sure where this originated, but there is a fair amount of dinosaur apparel. (i.e. shirts that say "Extinction is forever", and "All my friends are dead" with pictures of dinosaurs on them.)
I'm also posting a short version of my things-to-do-over-the-summer list, with only the important things listed, since the full one is a couple pages long in my notebook. There's no way I'll do all of these things, but it's fun to dream about them. So here it is;
- Sew more. Maybe take a class in it. (I have signed up for one since I wrote this)
- Get a new cell phone. EnV2? Chocolate? Razr?
- Buy that Baby, the Stars Shine Bright doll if you can. (I can't now, since they closed their overseas shop temporarily.)
- Fix up the antique bike. Maybe customize it?
- Customize the typewriter with permission... splatterpaint!
- Visit art museums.
- Read more! I need to step up my interest in literature.
- Buy a licca doll...
- Learn Hiragana.
- Set off fireworks... or at least sparklers.
- Cut hair... dye it too?
- Learn amigurumi or knitting.
- Get some All Star Chucks- Customize!
- Make lucky paper stars!
- Customize Mouse!!!!!!!!!
- Buy caulk & polymer clay to make jewelry and other stuff.
- Make Val & Mouse new clothes.
- Find an exchange program, preferably to China, Japan, or S. Korea, but anywhere cool is good.
- Make a Kawaii bento. ^_^
- Buy/Make a bunny eared sweatshirt. (I've seen these from BTSSB- they are the coolest!)

- Draw a chalk mural.
- Take a day off to explore crunchyroll.com. ;3
- Learn to make cute plushies.
- Update le wardrobe
- Make an eraser stamp.
- Try to make a felt sculpture? (I have no idea how it's done...)
I wanted to give you guys a peek into the pages of Japanese Seventeen in case you were interested. :3 It was the special anniversary edition, so it came with a "Majolica Majorca" cosmetics bag, the same one that's in the third photo. The page in the last photo is my favorite, it's a page full of purikuras. ^_^ I know it's kinda weird to take photos of the pages instead of just scan them, but I don't really understand my scanner. ^///^
Enjoy!
Feel free to just skim over this as I feel like it's going to be a loooong post!
I've been meaning to write a new post for a long time, but I always either didn't have time, or was just too lazy. (usually the latter ^^;) Alot has happened.
- I spent hours studying for my semester math tests, and even more time worrying about it. It's okay though, because I passed! :D
- I bought a lovely new saxophone. It's not as good as my other one, but it looks gorgeous and it's a nice second-horn.
- I went on my school's end-of-the-school-year trip to Washington DC.
- Made a big list of stuff I'm planning on doing over the summer!
- Signed up for sewing classes!
It's summer break now, and I've made plenty of fantastic plans. I'm really interested in fashion, and I thought it might be a smart idea to sign up for some sewing classes, since my only experience was dolly clothes.. I researched sewing lessons in my area and found a nice place that teaches small classes of around 4 people each. I looked through the booklet of things we're going to be making, and even though most of it is kinda... meh looking, I'm still really excited since I'll be learning to make my own creations later on. I went out and bought fabric today! I got lots of pretty, satiny fabrics. ^_^ Only a few are pictured below, but I also got some different fabrics for different things. (i.e. a fuzzy purple and black zebra-print for a hair scrunchie.
I've been keeping my own sketchbook of fashion designs, many of which are influenced by my interest in street fashion. I bought both Fruits, Fresh Fruits, and the latest issue of Japanese seventeen to inspire me, along with Gothic & Lolita. (I'd really like is a few copies of Kera Magazine too. ^w^)
My birthday is coming up on July 2, and I've already made my birthday list. XD One of the things I asked for was a blue iPod nano. I was a little disappointed that I had to ask for a new iPod since I was perfectly happy with my old one, but since someone was mean enough to steal it I feel like getting a new one is kind of a necessity. However, my parents said that since they're buying my brother a mac for college they're willing to give me the free iPod that comes with it so that I can ask for something else, so other things on my birthday list were pretty much cute stuff from Hot Topic, Forever21, and girlprops.com. Squee! Only eleven more days!
Painting, drawing, sculpting, sewing, etc., pretty much everything I didn't have time to do over the school year. I already started the painting part (I'm not posting pictures, it's my first canvas painting and I'm very insecure about it. ^///^) and I went out and bought the clay and supplies a few days ago. I might post the list later.
I'm also going to New York over the summer! Eeeee! I've wanted to go to NY for ages, and I can't believe it's gonna happen now! I'm thinking about getting a Lomographic camera just to take with me so that I can snap photos of the big-city streets. *o* (Diana Dreamer or CMY Holga?) I'll also have to save some cash though, so that I have plenty of dough to buy lotsa souvenirs!
Hiya guys! I'm sort of "recovering" from the whole Hikone thing. Anyways, yesterday I was feeling sort of down, so I took a trip over to one of my favorite places. It's called "Tsai Grocery", it's this little teeny Asian market that sells imported groceries. It's cool because they sell a lot of stuff you can't find in an average Kroger or Meijers- i.e. Japanese fashion magazines, onigiri rice, delicious foreign candies, etc.. I picked up my favorite candy, botan rice candy, as well as a box of strawberry pocky and this really yummy bread my friend (Kaylee) reccomended. ^_^
I wanted to buy a copy of "PINKY" magazine, but it was $11, partly because it was so thick and partly because it was imported, so I decided against it. It's okay though, there are lots of Japan magazine scans on the website "ricoche", so those are good enough for me.
I got rejected to be in the Hikone exchange program. I don't think I've ever wanted anything in my life as much as this. I didn't even get an interview. I would bet my life that I wanted that more than any of the other kids that applied. I was so close to my dream and now it's so far away.
"but we thank you for your interest in our exchange program."
I feel horrible.
Also, one of my friends just joined vox, so check out her new page! :3 Her name is yeppuyeo! \(^w^)/
Off to the right you'll see a random piccie of one of my old tamas chugging sake, heehee...
